One-on-One Time

The end of summer is almost here. Time to grab school supplies, shake off last month’s sleep-ins, and plan for another busy school year. Before jumping back into the hectic routine, take some time to spend quality one-on-one time with every individual in the family!

I think we take for granted family time and often assume that even though we are laughing, playing or eating together that means everyone is feeling connected. Schedule a movie date or walk in the park with your child or spouse where all of the intention is solely on them.

Alone time provides a bonding experience that is unique in the sense that it is a memory that only the two of you can share. So treasure those moments and collect them like fine art in a gallery. Because soon enough, the kids or your mate are off again in life’s busy stream, and you can pull those memories out for hugs and smiles when you miss them.

Spending individual time with a loved one also allows them to open up to you in a way that may be suppressed or stifled in the presence of more than two. Even though it’s immediate family, we all have different personalities, goals and dreams, and sometimes it’s hard to express yourself if everyone is watching. Sometimes, it’s much easier to express yourself and feel carefree one on one.

So grab a loved one, and get out and enjoy life and each other!!!

Happy Holiday Rising
