Support The National Park Trust

Aloha – I’m Ace.

I am 11 years old, and in the 6th Grade.  Beautiful Hawai’i is my home, however I split most of my time also in Florida and Colorado in between traveling with my fun family.  I love playing basketball and baseball and exploring the outdoors with my little brother Kingston.

Maybe you’ve seen me hosting an episode of PBS Hawaii (no big deal), maybe you have seen me in a video honoring Senator Mazie Hirono for the National Park Trust, or maybe you have seen the Youtube Channel that my brother and I run.  Either way, today, I want to talk to you about The National Park Trust.

The National Park Trust’s main job’s are to preserve the great National Parks that we have today, and also to create park stewards for the future.

They acquire the missing pieces of private land adjacent to National Parks, and they also bring thousands of kids from the under-served communities to National Parks.  Normally, most of these kids would never have had the opportunity to visit a National Park.  I can speak first hand to this.  When I was a 4th Grader at Honaunau Elementary one of our assignments as a class was to write a proposal for a grant that the school would receive.

After our teacher cleaned things up, we ACTUALLY RECEIVED THE GRANT!  A lot of the kids in my class had never been to Volcano National Park before – even though it is the other side of the island.  Once we received the grant – everyone was able to go.

It was AWESOME!! We got to camp overnight, and had an amazing time – All thanks to the The National Park Trust!

Nowadays – I am a Buddy Bison Student Ambassador

I have been a Buddy Bison Youth Leader since last year, 2020. It has been extremely fun and interesting, showing other kids and adults the importance of the parks and nature. Especially with the Covid 19 virus devastating the world last year and keeping many indoors, I wanted to highlight the importance more than ever of breathing fresh air and being outdoors in nature.

I want to learn more about the parks myself, and I think it’s pretty cool that I get to interact with other Buddy Bison Ambassadors and Representatives who enjoy nature as much as I do. The parks are very important to me because I love to see the national landmarks that nature created and I enjoy adventurous things!

I LOVE snowboarding. I would like to go snowboarding in Vancouver Washington at Glacier National Park one day. My favorite National Park experience so far would be a tie between camping in Volcano National Park in Hawaii and hiking in The Grand Canyon in Arizona. The next time we take a family trip to the Grand Canyon, I would love to explore the sights from below while white water rafting.
