Get Creative With Your Workspace!

Work in a space that excites you.

Here at Holiday Rising, we spend a lot of time throughout the year on the road. Because of that, we have become very familiar with libraries and quiet places to study and work. However, there are times when you just have to make do. So having a nicely portable workstation is essential. I love to travel with an all-encompassing work bag. This allows us to carry all of our work essentials, like a computer, hand sanitizer, mousepad, workstation blanket/desk, & water bottle.

Having everything handy in one convenient and stylish bag helps encourage us to work spare of the moment and often. We can pull out our work bag at the park, in a coffee shop, or at the pool.

Now Get To Work…

It’s perfect getting out of the mindset of having to be enclosed staring at the wall.

Even at home we create little personal getaways that make our office space more inviting. Here are a few cool tips for decorating your personal office work zone.

1. Designate Your Space

If you have the ability and room to designate an entire room for your workspace, do so. But if you don’t have a room for a home office, still create a private space with dividers that are meant only for working. While you can use actual room dividers to mark your space, you can also use furniture, plants, and another household decor to denote boundaries.

2. Make it Functional

A functional space is a more comfortable space. Be sure to have a proper desk and chair, and space to keep any necessary work materials. Have all necessary office supplies stocked up so that you can spend your time being productive and not searching for a pen.

3. Maximize Light

If possible, when selecting your designated workspace in your home, pick a spot that has plenty of natural light. Placing your desk near a window can help you stay alert and focused, and you won’t mind spending your time working when you have a view to enjoy.

4. Organize It

If you are surrounded by clutter, it will be difficult to stay productive in your home office. Be sure you have a place for everything, and everything has a place. Invest in trays for your desk, filing cabinets, or other storage solutions to ensure that your desk doesn’t become a catch-all for paperwork.

5. Give It Some Style

Just as your home workspace should be comfortable and well organized, it should also include a little of your personal style. Decorate your desk with family photos, decorative organization, and storage solutions, and greenery to freshen the air. And don’t forget to add little pops of color to liven it up, as well.
