Day 1: The Mistletoe Martini
Nothing says “holiday party” quite like a festive martini. Our Mistletoe Martini is a beautiful blend of vodka, cranberry, and a hint of mint that’s sure to get you in the holiday spirit.
What you need:
- 2 oz vodka
- 1 oz cranberry juice
- 1/2 oz white crème de menthe
- 1/4 oz fresh lime juice
- Sugared cranberries and mint sprig for garnish
What to do:
- Fill a cocktail shaker with ice.
- Add vodka, cranberry juice, crème de menthe, and lime juice.
- Shake vigorously for about 15 seconds.
- Strain into a chilled martini glass.
- Garnish with sugared cranberries and a sprig of fresh mint.
The Mistletoe Martini is a perfect balance of tart and sweet, with a refreshing minty finish. The bright red color and festive garnish make it a showstopper at any holiday gathering. For an extra special touch, rim the glass with crushed candy canes before pouring. Holiday Rising Tip: To make sugared cranberries, simply roll fresh cranberries in simple syrup, then in granulated sugar. Let them dry on a wire rack for about an hour before using.
The Story Behind the Drink:
We first created this cocktail during our Christmas in Boise Idaho after watching Ace shred on Bogus Basin Mountain. After years of moving around, we wanted to create new holiday traditions for our family. One evening, as we were decorating the house with mistletoe and cranberry garlands, the idea for this cocktail was born.
The cranberry represents the traditional holiday color, while the mint is a nod to the mistletoe. Every time we make this drink now, it reminds us of that first Christmas in our new home and the excitement of starting fresh traditions.
Pairing Suggestion:
The Mistletoe Martini pairs beautifully with light appetizers. Try serving it with our Holiday Rising Goat Cheese and Cranberry Crostini. The tartness of the cocktail complements the creamy goat cheese, while the cranberries in both the drink and the appetizer create a harmonious flavor profile.
Day 2: Spiced Apple Cider Hot Toddy
On a cold winter’s night, there’s nothing quite like curling up by the fire with a warm, comforting drink. Our Spiced Apple Cider Hot Toddy is like a hug in a mug – the perfect way to warm up after a day of holiday shopping or sledding with the kids.
What you need:
- 2 oz bourbon
- 4 oz hot apple cider
- 1 tbsp honey
- 1 cinnamon stick
- 2 whole cloves
- 1 star anise
- 1 lemon wheel
- 1 apple slice
What to do:
- In a mug, combine the bourbon and honey.
- Heat the apple cider in a small saucepan with the cinnamon stick, cloves, and star anise until steaming.
- Pour the hot spiced cider into the mug and stir until the honey is dissolved.
- Garnish with the lemon wheel and apple slice.
- Serve with the cinnamon stick and whole spices in the mug for added flavor and aroma.
This Spiced Apple Cider Hot Toddy is the epitome of winter comfort. The warmth of the bourbon blends beautifully with the spiced apple cider, while the honey adds a touch of sweetness. It’s not just delicious – it’s also a great remedy for those winter sniffles!
Holiday Rising Tip: Make a big batch of spiced cider in a slow cooker to have on hand for easy hot toddies all season long. Simply add bourbon to individual mugs as needed.
The Story Behind the Drink:
This recipe was inspired by our time living in Boise Idaho. During our winter there, we were introduced to the tradition of visiting apple orchards in the fall. We’d come home with bushels of apples and gallons of fresh cider. As the weather turned colder, we started experimenting with ways to warm up the cider for cozy evenings at home. This hot toddy became our go-to drink for chilly nights, movie marathons with the kids (they’d have the non-alcoholic version, of course), and for soothing sore throats during cold season.
Pairing Suggestion:
The Spiced Apple Cider Hot Toddy pairs wonderfully with warm, spiced desserts. Try serving it alongside our Holiday Rising Spiced Apple Pie or Gingerbread Cookies. The spices in the drink complement those in the desserts, creating a perfect harmony of flavors.

Strain and cool before using.
The Story Behind the Drink:
This cocktail was born during one of our famous Holiday Rising cookie-baking marathons in Reunion Resort in Florida. Every year, we spend a weekend making dozens of cookies to give as gifts to friends, neighbors, and Ace and Kingston’s teachers. One year, as the smell of gingerbread filled the house, we thought, “Why not bring this flavor into a cocktail?” We experimented with adding gingerbread flavors to different classic cocktails, and when we tried it with a White Russian, we knew we had a winner. Now, mixing up a batch of these has become as much a part of our holiday baking tradition as the cookies themselves!
Pairing Suggestion:
Naturally, the Gingerbread White Russian pairs perfectly with gingerbread cookies. But for a fun twist, try serving it with our Holiday Rising Dark Chocolate Truffles. The rich chocolate complements the creamy cocktail beautifully, while the gingerbread flavors add an interesting contrast.

The Story Behind the Drink:
This cocktail was inspired by our life on the farm in Hawai’i. Coming from colder climates, we were used to white Christmases and pine trees. But here we were, surrounded by Hawaiian Koa, palm trees and warm weather. We wanted to create a cocktail that brought together our northern roots (represented by the cranberries) with our new southern home (represented by the rosemary. The result was this refreshing fizz that has become our go-to drink for holiday brunches and outdoor gatherings.
Pairing Suggestion:
The Cranberry Rosemary Gin Fizz pairs wonderfully with light, fresh appetizers. Try serving it with our Holiday Rising Smoked Salmon. The brightness of the cocktail complements the rich salmon, while the herbal notes in both the drink and the appetizer create a harmonious flavor profile.

This cocktail was born out of necessity during one of our famous Holiday Rising New Year’s Eve parties. As midnight approached and everyone was starting to feel the effects of a long night of celebration, we needed something to perk up our guests for the countdown. Combining the energizing effects of Kona coffee espresso with the festive flavors of chocolate and peppermint, this martini was an instant hit. It’s now become a tradition to serve these in the lead-up to midnight every New Year’s Eve.

The Story Behind the Drink:
This punch was created for our first holiday party after Ace and Kingston were born. We wanted something festive that could be easily made in a large batch, allowing us to spend more time with our guests (and our babies!) rather than playing bartender all night. The pomegranate juice was inspired by a pomegranate tree we had in our backyard at the time – it was one of the first things we planted when we moved into that house, symbolizing new beginnings and fertility. Every time we make this punch now, it reminds us of those early days of parenthood and the joy of sharing our new family with friends and loved ones.
Pairing Suggestion:
The Pomegranate Champagne Punch pairs beautifully with a variety of holiday appetizers. We particularly love serving it with our Holiday Rising Brie and Fig Crostini. The sweetness of the fig complements the tart pomegranate, while the creamy brie balances the acidity of the champagne.

This recipe was developed after visiting the famous Woodford Reserve Distillery in Kentucky, where maple syrup is a staple in many kitchens. At the time we were there using aged Bourbon barrels to store our Kona Coffee in, for a special estate distilled Kona Loft Coffee bourbon line. For the holidays in Hawai’i, We were looking for a way to elevate the traditional eggnog we’d grown up with, and the idea of incorporating maple syrup was the perfect touch! When we combined all these elements, we knew we’d created something special.
This eggnog has become our signature drink for tree-trimming parties – nothing gets us in the holiday spirit quite like sipping on this while hanging ornaments and listening to classic Christmas tunes.
