Colin’s Cheeseburger Sliders

There’s nothing quite like the sizzle and aroma of cheeseburger sliders filling the kitchen during the holidays, especially when your family gathers around for that first, cheesy bite together. These mini burgers are easy to make ahead, kid-approved, and absolutely unbeatable for festive celebrations, holiday movie nights, or casual family feasts.

Why Cheeseburger Sliders are a Holiday Hit

Sliders instantly bring big smiles and hands-on fun to any holiday table. Hawaiian rolls make the perfect slightly-sweet base, while melted cheese and savory ground beef create a classic, comforting combo that’s welcome at any party or family gathering.

What you need:

  • 2 lbs lean ground beef (85% recommended for juiciness)
  • ½ white or yellow onion, diced
  • 2 teaspoons garlic powder
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 teaspoon Dijon mustard
  • Salt and black pepper to taste
  • 12 Hawaiian sweet rolls (connected, not separated)
  • 9–12 slices cheddar or American cheese
  • 2 tablespoons melted unsalted butter
  • 1 tablespoon sesame seeds (or everything bagel seasoning, optional)

Optional Slider Fixings

  • Sliced pickles
  • Ketchup, mustard, or your favorite burger sauce

What you need to do

  1. Prep the Beef:
Preheat oven to 350°F (180°C). In a skillet over medium heat, add diced onion and sauté until translucent. Crumble in the ground beef and season with garlic powder, Worcestershire, Dijon, salt, and pepper. Cook until just browned, then drain any excess fat.
  2. Set Up the Sliders:
Without pulling apart the Hawaiian rolls, slice the whole set in half horizontally to create a top and bottom layer. Place the bottom half in a greased baking pan or sheet.
  3. Layer & Assemble:
Lay half the cheese slices on the bottom buns. Evenly spread the beef mixture on top, then finish with the remaining cheese. Place the top buns over the cheese.
  4. Butter & Bake:
Brush the buns with melted butter and sprinkle with sesame seeds. Bake uncovered for 15–20 minutes, until cheese is melty and buns turn golden brown.
  5. Slice & Serve:
Cool for a minute before using a sharp knife to slice individual sliders. Serve hot, piled up on a platter with pickles and dipping sauces on the side for that festive touch.
