Travel Tips For Hotel Stays

Stay Stress-Free and Joyful while vacationing in small spaces

For families that are constantly on the go like ours, it is essential to not only plan out your trips in advance, but also to plan for your stay in your hotel, resort, RV, or Airbnb selection. It is essential to come prepared with your own tools for keeping your place clean and your heads cool.

Traveling with young children can be stressful, and that’s especially the case if you plan on staying at a hotel and sharing a room with your kids or extended family.

So pack your travel kits, grab your Lysol and let’s get into a few tips that are key for helping to make your hotel stays clean and fun!

  1. Get In Quick And Disinfect

Before everyone gets in the room and tears it up, give the room a quick once over.

After checking in and getting your keys, & While the family is unloading all the luggage from the car, race upstairs with your Lysol spray, Clorox wipes, and honest household cleaning products in hand.

Wipe down everything before the whole crew barges in. During these times, we have found that hotel rooms are making sure to take special precautions with cleans and sanitation, however, it never hurts to put your very own stamp of approval on it.

2. Organize Your Room

Next, set up organized areas or stations where everything will go. Especially when staying longer than 3 days at a time. It is imperative to have designated areas for things like dirty laundry, homework stations, work stations, food areas, etc. Even small hotel areas like hotel rooms and suites can be divided up and made more tolerable.

The Gaming Section Of The Room Is Over There…

3. Get Creative

Bring your own extra creative space! Yup, there are plenty of inflatable mattresses, playpens, and pop-up small tents you can bring along to add separate space and adventure to an otherwise bland stay. So get creative, pop up a tiny tent, grab some campfire books, and have a ball!

4. One Tiny Door Goes A Long Way

Now trust us on this one – It’s a game-changer. If you can, pay the extra $40 bucks for a suite if you are in a hotel room. The money you spend for having that extra room where the kids can go and play or sleep early is worth every stinking penny!!!

5. Get Some Extra Sleep

Who Set This Thing?!?

Invest in portable shade aids that will block out the bright lights in the morning, and in some cases, night light activity outside! These are awesome.

Also, make sure to grab your sound machine that will help you and the family sleep well into the morning by blocking out any additional noise or riff raff that you may encounter depending on where your location is. Since the boys have been in the womb they have been used to hearing classical music or the sounds of the ocean at night. With the aid of the sound machine or portable google hub, they can continue to hear the familiar while on the road.

6. Get Your Game On

Where are my card sharks?!? So our family has been raised with the love of cards, whist, spades, Acey Duecy, our new favorite Made Mine, and so much more. Card play offers an amazing alternative to tv watching, x box play, and social media scrolling. It allows for cool brain activity and interacting with your family on a one-on-one basis. It forces you to engage face to face with each other and read reactions, and it’s an awesome way to bond and learn each other’s personalities!

So grab a deck and start dealing.
